Local restaurant owner, Mamadou “Sav” Savane, of Sav’s Grill and Sav’s Chill sustained burns on 50% of his body in a cooking accident last week. The Lexington community is pulling together to help raise money for Sav and his family, to help cover the medical bills that insurance does not cover and the out-of-pocket expense to keep Sav’s Grill and Chill open while Sav is away recovering.
While I do not know Sav personally, I always hear such wonderful stories about how much pride he puts into his restauarant, how friendly he is, and how much he cares about your experience while dining at Sav’s. This speaks volumes to me! It’s so sad to hear of something like this happening to a man that works so hard for everything he has!
In this blog post, I hope to encourage you, the people of Lexington, to support Sav and his family in this time of need, by either donating to the “give forward campaign,” by stopping in for a meal at Sav’s Grill, or grabbing a scoop of ice cream at Sav’s Chill…or heck…do both!!
Tonight friends and I met up to do just that…grab a scoop…or two of ice cream (pistachio gelato is my weakness!) It was so great to see the Ice Cream shop full of people from the community coming out to show their support. I am predicting Sav’s Chill will have lines out the door over the next few weeks, please remember to be patient and kind.
Now…go show your LOVE…Lexington! 🙂
