Rolex, Part I

Rolex, Part I

As Keeneland ends, the Rolex Three Day event begins out at the Kentucky Horse Park. While I didn’t get to spend my entire weekend  at Rolex, I did get to venture around the grounds for the last day of the event and oh what a beautiful day it was!

Rolex1

Oh you absolutely will pose under the Rolex clock for a photo…even if we have to drag you there!

Rolex3

See…that’s better…This pose was much better than the “sorority pose” they were starting to go with.

Rolex2

With the sun shining, the temperature rising, and flowers blooming…it was pure perfection here at the Horse Park.

Rolex7

But first things first…FOOD!

Rolex8

A sea of fair food vendors as far as the eye can see. How great is this old fashion soda pop truck? And you got your soda in tin mugs.

Rolex10

It was a tough debate…Fish n’ Chips…Corn Dogs…Funnel Cakes…Pizza….oh the choices of delicious, deep fried goodness.

The winner: Fish and Chips with plenty for sharing!

Rolex9

Once our bellies were full and the smell of the deep fryers were no longer tempting us, we made our way around the grounds. The Rolex stadium was full of fans with their Ooohs and Ahhhhs that could be heard around the park.

Rolex17

Although we didn’t get tickets for the stadium, we could get up-close and personal as we watched the jumpers practicing.

Just don’t get in the way of the horses crossing the road.

Rolex4

I’m not sure that there is an animal more magnificent than the horse. Their leaps are effortless. I seriously could watch them for hours.

Rolex5

But just around the corner,  was something super enticing. The Land Rover obstacle course.

Rolex20

This was right up my alley! I mean, I have to make my husband proud and show off my mean, off-roading driving skills.

As we signed our “waivers,” we laughed hysterically as the attendants asked, “You guys are all over 21, right?” {insert a hysterical bahahaha here}

Rolex22 I assumed we’d all be fighting over who would drive…or just taking separate vehicles…but my two companions both quickly said “You’re it!”

In we climbed and off we went.

Rolex21

It was by far, one of the funnest things I’ve done. I’m super impressed by the Range Rover I drove…you can let off the brake as you head a straight-down, scare-the-crap-out-of you muddy hill and it will take control and guide you down safely. I even asked the driving instructor, “Are you sure?!” as I gently let off the brake.

Honey, can I have one??

I was in full fledged tourist mode…meaning I took too many photos to share in one post. So stay tuned for a secret garden, an improve photo session, and more fair food.
