The Farmer’s Market here in Birmingham is FAB! Located off 2nd Avenue, Downtown and hosted every Saturday from 7 AM-12 PM, The Pepper Place Market is the place to be on Saturday mornings. Established in 2000, vendors line the street of Pepper Place selling their fruits, vegetables, flowers, sweet teas, sausage biscuits, ice cream cones and so much more!
Each week you can find a different local Birmingham Chef giving cooking demonstrations.
A word of advice: if you don’t want to wait in lines you need to get to the Market bright and early! This photo (below) of Piper & Leaf (this amazing little sweet tea vendor) was a packed booth before 9 AM.
During one of our visits to Birmingham, we spotted these oversized Birmingham prints on the walls of Feast & Forest. Three minutes on google and I had located their Maker, Max and Mila, an etsy seller and vendor at The Pepper Place Market. I bought two custom prints from Amanda three days into being a resident of Alabama and love that I found such a creative maker to help decorate my house with. Stop by her booth or head over and check out on her Etsy account.
If you are looking for local gear to sport around town, you’ll find it here at the Market. B’ham Originals is killing it with this tea towel printed with the vintage ALABAMA theater logo.
Of course Birmingham is crazy for Steel City Pops and they’re still crazy for them in the early Farmer’s Markwt hours!
Overbird is top of my list of Birmingham Places to Eat. Opening for brunch on Saturday’s, Ovenbird is a great place to meet up with friends after shopping the Market.
Flower vendors are my favorite! What I love about the flower vendors here at this Market is they are more focused on buncles of wild flowers. You can mix and match to create your own unique bouquet.
Once you’re done shopping, grab a sweet treat (sweet tea, popsiccle or ice cream) and sit back to relax and enjoy the live music happening every week at Pepper Place.
Hopefully I’ll see some B’ham locals out at The Market this week! My favorite part is that Sloss Furnace is located just around the corner and can be seen in the distance! Y’all already know how obsessed I am with Sloss!
