September-October Events.

So many things are coming up and happening in and around Lexington and you are not going to want to miss any of them!

Events:

Jefferson Street Soiree (TONIGHT!)-Head down to Jefferson Street tonight, Wednesday, Sept. 10th for a block party. From Short Street to 2nd Street will be blocked off, the restaurants of the Jefferson District will be offering specials and deals. I highly recommend a little food hop to taste as much as you can. You can head over to the website and get a copy of the map and music line up for the night here. Free parking and shuttle service is available in the Cox Street Rupp Arena lot. Street Parking on Jefferson Street will be limited and hard to come by. See you there!

Crave Food and Music Festival-The food event that I have been waiting for all year! Happening this Saturday, Sept. 13 noon- 11 pm and Sunday, Sept. 14 noon-6 pm in the Moondance Amphitheater. You do not need tickets to attend. I repeat you do not need tickets to attend.  You can and must buy tickets for the food vendors on-site (samples range from $1, $3, and $5 at each booth). You can see a list of vendors here (all local restaurants and food trucks). Parking is $3 and goes to Green House $17 (bring cash for this). Music will begin Saturday evening at 5 pm-11 pm and again Sunday all day. You can see the line up here.

The Kentucky Bourbon Festival-September is National Bourbon Month. The event takes place Sept. 16-21 in Bardstown, KY. There are loads of events and things to do. Check out their website for more information and tickets.

CTK Oktoberfest-September 19 and 20th at Christ the King. Food, games, music. A fun community event for everyone!

Pink Prom-A breast cancer awareness event, Friday, Sept. 26 from 8 pm-1 am. Grab your best prom attire, invite your crush and snag up two tickets (only $35 for 1, $60 for two if you buy before the 26th).  Your pretty much guaranteed to dance the night away as DJ Kerry Glass spins some beats for you to get down to. You’ll forget you aren’t in high school and raise money for a great cause all at the same time!

KEENELAND OPENS!- October 3rd-25th (this needs no further explanation)

NoLi Night Market-Friday, October 3, details to come. Lot’s of food, beer and local vendors. Basically a really epic block party!

Bourbon Social-Calling all bourbon lovers and foodies. An weekend full of events starting October 11-13th with events happening at Keeneland, Fasig-Tipton, All Tech Brewery and Woodford Reserve. Don’t miss out, you will need tickets for many of these events so snag them while you can! (range from $35-$200)

The Bourbon Chase– A 200 mile journey along the KY Bourbon Trail. Made up of 300 teams of 12 people each. The race will end Saturday at Triangle Park

Kentucky Proud Incredible Food Show-Saturday, October 11 from 9am-5 pm at the Lexington Convention Center. Tickets are $20 with $3 off coupons here. There will be over 120 vendors including food, beer, wine and more.

 

New App:

Follow That Food Truck: You guys asked for it and the Lexington Food Truck guys have delivered! Finally a food truck app for Lexington (and coming to other cities!) Follow That Food Truck  gives you real time location as to where your favorite trucks are currently located! You can get your food truck swag over on their site…how great are those shirts? Keep an eye out, you might see them slinging t’s over at the North Lime Market next month.

 

Kick Starters:

Lyles BBQ has a kick starter going for 14 more days to raise money to buy a mobile truck. Head over and help them out. Every small donation counts and they are giving lots of good stuff to their “backers”.

Lexington Pasta has a kick starter going for 9 more days to help raise money fund their new Pasta Garage over on Delware Ave. This means a pasta style restaurant! How exciting! These guys are also giving away great gifts to their sponsors. Every little bit counts!
