My Happy Place

My Happy Place

My Happy Place

There are so many new things in our lives…A new city, a new job, a new house! We purged so much of what we had in our home in Lexington for multiple reasons (to downsize, to upgrade pieces, to purge junk, etc.). One of those that we wanted to purge was our bed! I was beyond excited when Sealy reached out to see if I would be interested in taking one of their new Cocoon beds for a test drive. We desperately needed a new bed (our bed was almost 10 years old and pretty sure the reason my back hurts daily) and with the move, this couldn’t have come at a better time.

Sealy believes in their new Cocoon bed so much they offer 100% satisfaction guarantee. If you don’t like it after 100 nights they’ll take it back and refund you your money. That kind of backing from a brand speaks volumes!

Before even opening the bed, I was ecstatic… it shipped to us for FREE! We didn’t have to pay and/or schedule a delivery date/time…we didn’t have to borrow a truck to go pick it up. 3-4 days after placing the order the Cocoon arrived on our door step!

We ordered a King/Firm…and while not impossible to move…it was pretty heavy to pick-up (Jesse moved it no problem) and it will take two of you to get it out of the box/roll it out. To have this bed just arrive at our doorstep free of charge was so convenient!

Tempur Sealy international headquarters is based in my hometown, Lexington Kentucky! Y’all know how obsessed I am with shopping local so this bed seemed like the perfect fit.

The mattress comes rolled up in vacuum sealed packaging. You simply pull the perforated part open, rip the plastic off, and let expand for about 3o minutes. Then you’re ready for a good nights sleep.

Moving into the new house, we decided to go with a platform bed (therefore we do not need box springs). We are loving the feel/look and plan to grab some new bedside tables that are more complimentary to this look (really digging these from West Elm.) Our matchy-matchy bed set is not really our taste much anymore and we are ready for furniture pieces with more character.

We’ve slept on our new Cocoon bed for over a week now and are beyond happy with the comfort and quality. Honestly, I’m surprised at how much we like this mattress (I feel like we’ve gotten a Tempur-Pedic bed for a quarter the cost!) How does a bed that sleeps this well come in that tiny box?! Sealy nailed it on this one!

Leading such busy lives with blogs, Instagram accounts (we have over 5 accounts we run), “real” jobs, markets, and travel…we spend a lot of time in our bed when we are at home. It truly is my “Happy Place” …a place where we come to decompress and spend time with one another. Many times I grab my MacBook Air and head to the bed to write my blog posts and check emails so that the Mister and I can be in one room together. We love to watch different TV series (Game of Thrones anyone??), watch movies in bed, snuggle our pups in the early mornings, and just BE!

Our bedroom is the one room we made sure we had furniture for (and would fit) before arriving in our new Birmingham, Alabama house (the Cocoon and platform frame both arrived at our doorstep). We still have limited living room furniture…but hope some new West Elm pieces become part of the family soon.

Cocoon by Sealy is hosting an “InstaGrant” +  will be giving away 5 Cocoons to 5 lucky instagrammers! The application closes on May 18th (go enter and see details here.) I’d love to see a Lexington instagrammer get one of these cool + comfy beds! If you are in the market for a new bed, I would highly recommend testing one of the Cocoon’s out!

This is so awesome, I am not in need of a new mattress but would definitely look into this when I do. It will be interesting to see how this holds up and what you think in a few months.

    Hi Mindy!

We recently got a similar mattress, a Leesa! They are pretty awesome, + I can’t believe they come all vacuum packed in the tiny(ish) box! Where did you guys get your platform frame? We’ve been looking into those, as we got a new mattress, but could use a new frame + box spring, but wanted to switch over to the platform type. Also, are they all headboard-less, or do you guys just prefer yours that way? Your new house is adorable, btw!

I got this one from It is headboard less (not sure if you can add one or not…I think not). I’m still shocked this giant bed came in that box!! 🙂
