2016 was an exciting year for The Rohr family. I took a new job, downsizing our lives into a house built in the 40’s (small closet struggles), and just in general- learning to live life somewhere other than “home”…Lexington, KY…a place where my entire family and all our friends are. The changes have been new, different, scary but exciting. We said good-bye to Beau, our pound-puppy and handsome fur baby of 12+ years and then a few months later hello to Mr. Enzo…who reminds me daily of our Beau with all his silly mannerisms. I’ve learned to run a Market from two states away and am still struggling to figure out what exactly Love, Lexington looks like as my job demands more time than I expected…not to mention it’s pitch black by the time I get off work which makes photography a bit of a challenge. My parents of 34+ years marriage will soon be divorced…something that I never expected to happen (and haven’t really talked about with anyone or made public.) It’s hard to think that it might be because I moved…was I the glue holding it all together? I know in the end it is for the best and eventually my parents will know find happiness, but it’s still hard to see your family hurting and not be able to run to the rescue.
As much as I enjoyed 2016 and it’s adventures, I’m happy to see it go and welcome in a new year…a year bright and full of opportunity. I’m not big on making new years resolutions…don’t we all want to lose 5-10 lbs always? Don’t we always want to learn something new? I’m constantly shooting to be the best ME I can be not matter what year it is. I do want to spend more time with my camera in my hand…I want to spend more time traveling and seeing the world…I want to soak in as much time with my family/friends whenever I can. I want to be joyful and to encourage joy in others. While old, my motto has been for a while “YOLO” and I try to live that daily. Say yes when you want, say no when you want. It’s YOUR life and what YOU make of it.
Enough sappy New Years blah, blah, blah…let’s look back at some of my favorites from 2016!
Stay tuned for more this week on my attempt at a Capsule Wardrobe to get me through January and February…basically Alabama’s winter.
