The biggest question I get asked as Love, Lexington is how I don’t weigh a million pounds with all the food I eat and because we eat out a lot (keep in mind not everything I photograph goes in my mouth…sometimes it’s Mr. Love Lexington’s or a friends meal). Unfortunatly, I don’t have a magic answer but a few things factor in, like 1) genes, 2) eating local restaurants, no fast food and no processed foods, no desserts (well…usually no desserts) and 3) having a fitness routine.

I don’t run or do a lot of cardio, I strictly stick to weight lifting and yoga (which is great to help workout my sore muscles). I’ll give you a run down of what my weight lifting days look like below, but I’ve found a gem of a yoga class on Saturday mornings at our local Lululemon store in Lexington Green at 9 AM. The Lululemon brings in top notch yoga teachers and I have greatly enjoyed every class I have taken. Not to mention it’s FREE!!!

Now…Lululemon yoga pants…another hot topic. I always questioned why people paid that much for Lululemon pants…and well…after trying some on (and not wanting to take them back off)…I can now say I GET IT! Man these bad boys fit like a glove and are awesome for yoga, squatting, lounging, and just wearing out. I’m hooked and I am seriously considering throwing out every crappy $20, worn out pair of yoga pants I own.

DON’T MISS: This Saturday night 8/8 @ 8 PM (till 10 PM), the Lululemon in Lexington Green, will be hosting a Black Mark-It event and the word on the street is there will be something special in-store for those buying “black” items! Now moving onto strength training…I do 2-3 days a week. If nothing else, I get in one good day of legs and one good day of arms/back. I do everything weighted and usually as heavy as I can take. Long gone are the days of low weight, lots of reps. If you want to “tone” up you have to use heavy weight…don’t worry girls…you will not bulk up.  Bodybuilding.com is a great resource to watch videos to make sure you are doing the exercises correctly (I had help from the Mister) or get a trainer to help you determine what is right for you and help you learn proper form.

Leg Day:  Weighted squats, Front Squats, Lunges, Leg Press, Straight Leg deadlift, kick-backs, and Calf raises.

Arm + Back Day: Face pulls, triceps pull down, lat pull down, preacher curls, rope pulls and back extensions.

I wish I had a magic pill to pass along, but I only have advise…you gotta work hard to play hard! Feel free to ask me fitness questions. I’m no fitness guru, but I’ve learned a lot in the past few years and it feels amazing to be strong and not spend hours going now where on the elliptical.
