CHEW { a dinner series }

CHEW { a dinner series }

Last Wednesday night, the mister and I attended out first “Chew” dinner and I’m excited to give you a peek into the event.

Chew, is a quarterly dinner series, put on by LexEffect (a local event company) & Whole Foods and serves up a chef driven menu, with locally sourced food and drinks, and is hosted in a Lexington downtown neighborhood. The second one of the year, featured Chef Ashley Minton of Minton’s @760 and was held at the Lexington Art Leagues, Loudoun House.

We hoped the rain would hold off so that we could have dinner on the lawn…mother nature however had other plans. Lucky for us, the Lexington Art League had just set a new art in the gallery, that was to preview the next night, so we got a little sneak peek and had dinner among the art!

We mixed, we mingled, and we started off with the night with a Blue Heron Vodka cocktail and appetizers.

The FEAST art exhibit was the perfect setting for our farm to table dinner!

Chef Ashley Minton is not only an amazing chef but a friend (I love meeting and becoming friends with the Chef’s in Lexington) and she took mister Love, Lex behind the scenes to snap a few shots of the food prep…it takes a lot to prepare three courses for 150 guests!

Let the dinner begin!

First up, a savory garlic scope and herb cheesecake, topped with a picked radish and baby arugula salad. Served with beer cheese crisps. I know what you are thinking…“herb cheesecake?? really??” Not your typical cheesecake, the herb cheesecake, paired with the beer cheese, atop the crisp cracker was perfectly rich, creamy, and delicious.

Each dish was paired with a Blue Heron cocktail, our first course was paired with a plum Bloody Mary (not my jam…but many thought it was tasty!)

Next up, dry cured beef short ribs with red wine demi glace, duchess potatoes, and sautéed fennel heads with a bacon jam beur blanc. Paired with a Blue Heron Thyme & Dandelion infused vodka cocktail.

Chef Minton makes some of the best desserts in Lexington! So naturally, our third dish…the dessert…was the dish I was most looking forward to. To start, a Blue Heron strawberry Moscow Mule.

Paired with a rhubarb crisp with lemon mousse, macerated honey and plums. It was pure heaven!

The next Chew event takes place in July 16th at the Hunt Morgan House, features Mark Wombles (of Distilled @ Gratz Park and Heirloom), and is paired with local craft beer. Space is limited, so get our tickets early! You can buy tickets here.

Thank you to LexEffects for all the hard work you put into making this event a truly memorable one!
