Finally…4 weeks into living in Birmingham and we finally have a dining table! I sold my table and chairs before we moved knowing that I wanted something different (thought it was this over-sized chunky table from West Elm…that would have been horribly to heavy for this house). When doing our design session with West Elm, our designer did suggest a white top table that I was really digging and almost ordered…but something just wasn’t right about it. Jesse didn’t love it which didn’t help my decision either. I opted to wait a few days (still while the “Shop More Save More” sale was going on…) and keep looking.
Then it happened. I came across this photo on Pinterest (here) and fell in love.
Now…the table seen here is not the exact table in the Pinterest photo (or at least I do not think it is)….but gosh darn it-it’s pretty close!
I’m still not 100% sold on the bench…I’m hoping when my navy swivel chairs arrive that go in the living room that I’ll be sold on this. Just having lime green chairs and this bright bench all in one room seems like over kill. I wish there would have been a wooden hair pin bench that matched this table, but…no dice. I also wish this was just a smidge longer to fit the full length of the table. Worst case, I buy 3 more chairs in the future and move this in the hall as an entry bench or to the fireplace area for extra seating.
My initial plan for this wall was to have a huge gallery wall (like this) full of Lexington, Kentucky, and Birmingham prints but I like the simplicity of the three 18×24’s. Jesse and I spotted these two Birmingham prints in one of our favorite spots, Feast & Forest, and I was all over Google trying to figure out where they got them. I few google searches and boom…I had their maker: Max and Mila. She often sets up at the Pepper Place Market in Birmingham (the 2nd Saturday of the month) if you want to swing in and check her out.
These chairs only come from World Market in a 2 set (which sounds great…until you want 3) but I have the same chair in my office (from At Home)…ta-da, THREE! But now, I need to find something new for my office.
Until then…the table will remain with two chairs and the bench.
Slowly but surely it’s all coming together. We still have two navy swivel chairs, a 8×10 jute/chenille rug and this awesome hammered gold colored table coming from West Elm. Hopefully they show up sooner versus later. I’m ready to be done decorating…it’s exhausting and expensive!
